In a miniature jet engine, if I power the compressor from a DC motor do I still need to include a turbine?

I dont think I would as the purpose of the turbine is to generate the power needed to run the compressor (and any other functions) and in my miniature model would only slow the air down before it left the nozzle. but then again i could be wrong, i studied jet engines in thermo but its not exactly an area of expertise
