Knob tail gecko question?

I am getting a knob tail gecko soon, i just need help with what it will need. i have seen the proper reptile encosures that have the light fittings and thermo stats, air vents etc. but im just wondering if this kind of lizard will require these things, or would it be better to just get a tank with heat mats instead? or both? i dont know.. please help.
