Can you drop a class in college that another class depends on?

Basically I am taking thermo 2 and heat transer this semester and I am doing well in heat transfer but terrible in thermo 2. I want to drop thermo 2, but in the course descriptions I am required to take thermo 2 with or before heat transfer. So can I still drop the class and receive a grade heat transfer?
