Civil vs mechanical engineering hard decision crossroad?

I am currently going to school for my Civil Engineering degree. I personally love it myself, however I've spoken to a few civil engineers along with my professors and they have all told me that Civil engineering is a dieing profession. Many civil engineers have a hard time finding work now. I am using my civil degree to engineer for the marines, so ill have work but for those not joining the military, mechanical engineers have a better future. And for a civil to admit this says something because mechs and civils usually think theyre better than one another haha.
